Oli Oakes
At 21
years of age, Oliver Oakes already has an impressive track record as a
driver.
Oliver first got behind a wheel - in a kart - in 1995. A string
of successes across Europe over the following ten years as his honed his craft,
climaxed in Oliver becoming the 2005 World Kart Champion at Braga in
Portugal.
The following year Oliver stepped up into cars. He started out
in the Red Bull Junior team, competed in the Formula Renault Eurocup - before
again proving his natural driving ability by taking pole, and then winning, his
first ever race in Formula BMW.
Last season, he made a big impression on
the British Formula 3 International series with minnows Eurotek. Within just a
handful of races, Oli had recorded a 6th place on the streets of Budapest and
at the season finale, rocked the established order with a superbly taken pole
position.
This brought him to the attention of Carlin Motorsport - with
whom he had graduated from karts to cars with in '06 - and after several
positive tests, an agreement was reached for Oliver to mount a serious assault
on this season's British F3 title.
As ever with Oli, it will be
exciting and a whole lot of fun.
